Sr. Financial Controller

With over 260 employees, we work from our offices in Utrecht, Berlin, New York City, and Aarhus (Denmark). You will be working from our headquarters in Utrecht, in the Finance team under the Operations department.

You’ll be joining the Finance team alongside Shannon, Paul, Tom, and Mathieu. The current team is expanding its reach; for example, we recently acquired a Danish company, and with that, we now have a total of five entities, which is why we’re looking for an additional colleague to join the team.

Your job

• You’re going to be an End-to-End responsible for accounting: Ensure accurate accounting for our 5 entities, with some tasks performed directly and others managed through local accountants;

• You’ll have the oversight of Complex Transactions: Take charge of overseeing intricate entries, particularly those related to Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A);

• Primary Contact Point: Act as the main liaison for accountants and auditors, facilitating seamless communication and reporting;

• Enhancing the accounting process through improvements and automation.

Additionally, you will act as the first go-to person for other accounting team members (1.8 FTE) responsible for collections, payments, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and all general ledger (GL) entries.

What success looks like

• In-time, complete and accurate month-en closing, consolidated reporting and tax filling for all entities;

• An approved audited financial statement;

• Successful CSRD (ESG) filling;

• Future proof accounting/reporting standard (Dutch GAAP/ IFRS);

• You have a clear Administrative Organisation and Internal Control process in place.

What you’ll bring

• Knowledge of all accounting rules, both Dutch GAAP and IFRS (IFRS is a pre);

• Experience with multiple entity set-ups including Dutch and US entities;

• Being structured and keeping up to date with the latest regulatory developments;

• 2-3 years experience as a Big 4 accountant preferably also in Audit.

Some practical things we rely on from you

• You have excellent written and spoken Dutch & English;

• You’re available for at least 4 days a week (32 hours);

• You are willing to come to our Utrecht office for two days/week;

• You live in (or close to) Utrecht, or are willing to move;

• You have a valid work permit for the Netherlands or EU citizenship.
