Channable is a 11 year successful scale up with offices in Denmark, Germany, the USA and the Netherlands. With over 300 employees and after 3 acquisitions, we are now looking for our first Legal leader. In this role, you will join a dynamic technical environment, where we operate in a diverse network of partners.
In this position, you'll report to Mathieu (CFO), who also leads the Data and Office teams, and you'll be part of our Operations department.
What you'll do
Channable is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Legal Counsel to join our growing team. The Legal Counsel will be responsible for overseeing all legal matters of the company, providing strategic legal advice to management, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role requires a proactive individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, who can effectively manage legal risks and support business objectives. The Legal Counsel will work with a network of external legal experts in various specialized legal disciplines.
Your responsibilities:
Provide legal counsel and guidance to the executive team and other departments on a wide range of legal issues, including corporate governance, commercial contracts, intellectual property, data privacy, and regulatory compliance.
Develop and implement legal policies, procedures, and best practices to minimize legal risks and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Draft, review, and negotiate various agreements, including commercial contracts, vendor agreements, partnership agreements, and licensing agreements.
Manage and oversee intellectual property matters, including trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
Advise on data privacy and security matters, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other relevant regulations. We’d like you to own all of the compliance processes with customers and partners.
Manage litigation and disputes, working closely with external legal counsel as needed.
Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments that may impact the company's business operations.
Coordinate with and manage external legal experts in specialized legal disciplines, such as employment law, tax law, and international law.
Provide legal training and education to employees on relevant legal topics.
Support the company's international expansion efforts by advising on legal matters in different jurisdictions.
Job requirements
Who are you?
You have a Master's degree in Law.
Min. of 7 years of experience practicing law, preferably corporate and commercial law.
In-house legal experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of contract law, intellectual property law, data privacy law, and corporate governance.
Experience managing litigation and disputes.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience working with external legal experts and managing legal budgets.
Fluency in English is required.
Some practical things we expect from you:
You are living in The Netherlands with travel distance from our Utrecht office.
You are willing to come to our Utrecht office for 2 days/week.
You are available for at least 32 hours per week (4 days).
You have a valid work permit for the Netherlands or EU citizenship.

What do we offer?
The base salary is gross between €5.000 and €6.000 per month based on a 40-hour workweek. The salary is determined based on experience.
8% holiday allowance - 8% of your yearly salary, which is paid together with the May salary.
