Job description
We are looking to hire our first VP of Engineering!
In this role, you will be responsible for managing our Engineering teams (both Haskell and Python) and enabling them to succeed.
You will shape our processes and improve them to foster a strong and innovative engineering culture. You will work closely together with Robert (our CTO) on our technical roadmap and strategy, and make sure that it is executed on time and within budget.
You can independently manage the teams, and make sure that our day-to-day operations are running smoothly.
Your responsibilities:
Manage our Haskell and Python Engineering teams. The first 3 months you will lead our 3 Haskell teams. Afterwards, you will also manage 4 of our Python teams.
Mentor our Team Leads of each team, and help them grow in their roles
Create and improve processes to foster a strong engineering culture that optimizes for the correctness, reliability, and maintainability of our services
Identify roadblocks and help to keep projects on course
Coordinate between our teams' team efforts during incidents
Partner up with Gio (our Tech Recruiter) to hire new team members
Make sure that our day-to-day operations are running smoothly
Build a friendly and helpful atmosphere
Report to Robert (our CTO) and collaborate on the technical roadmap and strategy
Who are you?
You are an engineering leader with extensive experience both as an individual contributor as well as a manager of engineering teams. You have a proven track record of building high-performing software engineering teams and know how to make the teams focus on the projects that have the highest impact for the company.
You have at least 5+ years of experience as an Engineering leader/VP of Engineering/CTO
You have hired at least 10+ Engineers
You have an extensive track record of successful project execution
You should have managed a team that shipped at least one major new service or product before
You have excellent communication skills, and you can present your ideas to Management in a concise way
You are a great team player, who knows how to motivate a team, and lift the more junior team members up, while giving the seniors the freedom they need
You have experience making an O.K.R. planning for an Engineering team
You are an experienced people manager - you can do progress reviews of team leads, recognizes excellent performance, and can improve performance of teams
You can work very independently - e.g. could set up a new engineering team, set out the mission and vision for the team
You have your own vision on strategy, but also on operational processes and how to improve them
You are committed to high engineering standards
You are living in The Netherlands (or you’re willing to relocate) and in possession of a valid work permit (if you’re a non-EU citizen)

What do we offer?
A gross monthly salary of €6.197-€10.487 based on 40 hours per week.
Stock Appreciation Rights: you will be eligible to financially profit from Channable’s success
