Job description

What will your role be?

We want everyone at Channable to be able to do their best work. In order to do this, we need reliable and secure IT infrastructure. That's where you come in! You'll work closely together with our other IT support specialist as part of our DevOps team. In this position, you will take on a mix of helpdesk work and automation projects to guarantee smooth sailing. To be more specific, you'll: 

  • Setup and maintenance of our PCs and laptops (Windows & Linux)
  • Help with onboarding of new colleagues
  • Diagnose and fix hardware & software problems with employee's computers
  • Make configuration changes within our office network
  • Automate (parts of) our manual IT processes
  • Pro-actively lookout for security problems related to our IT. Suggest and implement fixes

If you've previously worked on internal helpdesks and got bored by a lack of depth and responsibility: this is the position you want. You won't just be responsible for executing predefined processes. You will also get the opportunity to improve and invent new ones.

Who are you?

First of all, you can see yourself working in the Channable culture. In your way of working you prefer incremental and continuous improvements over moonshots. You are good at, and genuinely like explaining technical problems to our slightly less technical colleagues ;) In addition, we are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience administering Microsoft Windows systems
  • Has a structured work approach and likes writing documentation
  • Has a good understanding of common security problems and how to solve them

Bonus points for:

  • Experience with IT helpdesk work or can otherwise support a mix of software and hardware problems
  • Programming and/or process automation experience
  • Familiarity with networking technology and concepts
  • An automation-driven mindset. You don't like doing things repetitively and strive to automate where it makes sense (keeping xkcd 1205 in mind)
  • Experience administering Linux systems

Practical requirements

  • EU citizenship or a work permit, already living in The Netherlands
  • Available for 2-3 days a week on-site in our brand new office in the center of Utrecht. Preferably available every Wednesday
